Studio Migalle is the home of Toronto artist Gail Leija.

I make images that emerge through sustained acts of attention. I am inspired by the surfaces of my urban environment, the assemblages I construct in my studio, and my evolving collection of found objects and images. Drawing on studio art, information architecture, and experience design, my practice explores how hidden relationships may (or may not) become visible. Forms emerge and recede as systems overlap, interfere, and resist resolution. The image becomes a temporary stabilization at the threshold where recognition begins, coherence almost forms, and collapse remains possible.

My work is realized as limited edition archival pigment prints on paper, aluminum, and silk.

I studied Electronic and Kinetic Sculpture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and earned an MFA in Arts & Technology from the University of Texas. My interdisciplinary background has informed both my career as a digital Creative Director and my practice as a mixed media artist in Toronto.
